The audit identified a number of playgrounds with surfacing issues that required action to bring them into compliance with the CSA standards. The sand, stone, wood fiber and rubber surfacing identified as being deficient are being addressed by performing maintenance, adding material, tilling, removing organic matter and/or removing and replacing the safety surface material as noted in the individual reports.
As a result of playground inspections by city forces, and the playground audit, thirty six (36) play units have been removed from city parks due to non compliance and failing conditions that could not be addressed. See table below for a list of removed playground units to date:
