Further the tables below show the estimated life cycle expiration of the remaining 105 playground units. While they may have reached their useful life many of the units are still in good working condition. Units will only be removed from service once they fail to meet current CSA standards and we can no longer obtain parts or repair them to the necessary standards.
Based on a twenty year expected life of a playground, annual funding in the range of $1.5M - $2M and replacement of approximately 6 units per year should create a sustainable inventory going forward. Again this funding is not currently in the 5 year capital budget plan, however this funding level represents the best option to maintain our playground inventory levels at 125.
