Crowdfunding Platform
The DWBIA has launched a new donation campaign affording citizens the opportunity to support their favourite downtown establishments. Designed to assist small businesses in the core impacted by the pandemic, the donation platform is hosted on the DWBIA’s website. Supporters can search and select local businesses that have been impacted by the non-essential closure rule.
100% of the proceeds from the crowdfunding initiative go directly to the business selected, and the DWBIA will be absorbing all of the software and transactional fees associated with the platform. The platform is featured on our website with a designated section that provides more information, including FAQs, registration page, and list of participating businesses.
Reopen & Reconnect Kits
On June 1, the DWBIA began offering its members FREE resource and safety supply packages. The packages include disposable masks, hand sanitizer (courtesy of the City), window clings, floor decals, and a set of six (6) PSA posters. Members interested in the packages complete a registration form on our website and the orders are fulfilled on a first-come first-serve basis.
E-Commerce Marketplace
The DWBIA is currently working on a multi-vendor e-commerce marketplace. Our goal is to provide our members with an e-commerce marketplace that is easy to use, provides a consistent user experience, allows members to brand their micro-store, and invites customers to shop from several vendors in a single order. The DWBIA intends to provide the e-commerce platform FREE to its members and will only seek to recover credit and debit transaction fees.
We thank you for your consideration of our 2020 budget, and urge you to look favourably on our request.
Sincerely,
Brian Yeomans Chair
