Heritage Targeted Economic Incentive Programs

The three main heritage targeted financial incentive programs are described below. The main eligibility factor is that the property must be listed as a Heritage site before it can proceed with the grant application process. The Municipal Heritage Register can be found online:

Table 3: Description and Eligibility Requirements for Heritage Incentive Programs in the City of Windsor

Program Name	Description
HeritageProperty TaxReduction	 Eligibility: Must be listed under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.  Eligible Work: Includes restoration of heritage attributes, Heritage Conservation agreement or easement and/or any repair, restoration, preservation, stabilization and/or rehabilitation done to the heritage elements of the building or lot.  Tax Reduction: Includes the total cost of repairs including tax reduction up to 30% per year. If eligible work exceeds 30% of property tax within a year, the extra amount will be rebated for two more years.
Community Heritage Fund	Eligibility: The property must be listed under Part IV and V of the Ontario Heritage Act, 1974. Other application details include:  Funding covers the restoration and conservation of heritage features mentioned within the Reasons for Designation and other reasonable reasons  Documentation of the original property may be required  Funding can potentially assist in paying for fees to architectures and engineers as well as feasibility studies when related physical work proceeds.
