Dear Sirs/Madams,

REFERENCE: DEVELOPMENT and PERMIT FEES FOR 1486 St. Luke & 4895 Matchette

In the past, City Council has been generous in approving Habitat for Humanity for "grants-in-lieu-of" waived fees for building permits, development fees and other related fees. In council meeting on December 3rd, Councilor Sleiman asked administration if Habitat for Humanity pays development fees. It was indicated that while we do pay development fees in some areas of the city council has the ability to provide grants to offset them. The Mayor also indicated that to his recollection Habitat had never been denied such a request. The city treasurer also agreed with this statement.

We are sincerely grateful for those past decisions as they have directly increased our ability to provide decent, affordable housing built in partnership with local families in need. In light of the latest report and recommendations to council in the "10 year Housing and Homelessness Master Plan" it is clear that the city is actively working to support affordable home builds. Based on the discussion at the December 3rd council meeting it is also clear that council wishes to streamline processes and move quickly to address the housing crisis.

In order to increase our builds in Windsor I am asking on behalf of our board and over 600 volunteers that council assist in 2 areas:
