First Responders Receive Honorary Medals for Saving Runner's Life
In November, first responders who provided immediate, lifesaving care for Meghan Roth, a runner in the 125th Boston Marathon who suffered a cardiac event near mile eight, were awarded honorary medals for their exemplary service.
B.A.A. President & CEO Tom Grilk, along with Daniel Dow, Deputy Chief of Operations for the Natick Fire Department, and Dr. David Morris, Medical Control Doctor for Natick Fire, awarded nine first responders honorary medals in recognition of their efforts on Monday, October 11.
"The B.A.A. extends our sincere thanks and appreciation to each and every first responder who came to the aid of Meghan Roth on race day," said Grilk. "Few other places will you see the community and public safety support as displayed by these first responders during the Boston Marathon. While the world was watching, these first responders rose to the occasion. The Boston Marathon brings people together in numerous ways, and that was true on October 11."
"There is a lot of coordination that goes into the marathon," said Deputy Chief Dow. "It is my job to get the right people in the right places in the right time, and we certainly did that at this year's marathon. I am extremely proud of the work that was done by the men and women of the Natick Fire Department and these individuals. Together with our partners
