catch the bug for becoming a Six Star Finisher.

A charity spot for the London Marathon in 2018 was followed by Tokyo in 2019, and then her qualifying race for Boston in Nevada. Berlin was checked off in the fall of that year and with her BQ in her pocket alongside her fifive stars, all that stood between Amy and her Six Star medal on Boylston Street was 26.2 miles of road from Hopkinton to Boston.

“I have wanted Boston from the beginning, so it was never my intention to leave it until last, but it’s cool that it has worked out this way,” she said. “I have friends who have run Boston, and it’s THE race. If you’re good, you run Boston.”

The pandemic-induced delay also meant she could take a shot at making her spot even more secure.

“I became worried that I might not make the cut-off, with a lot of new people getting their qualifying time after the delay, so I ran the Limited Edition Mount Charleston Marathon (in November 2020). I trained harder than ever and got a 22-minute cushion inside my BQ.”

The stars really do seem to have aligned for Amy. She'll run Boston alongside her friend Teresa, who she also ran New York with back in 2016, and who BQ'd alongside her in Las Vegas. "It's so amazing that I'll get it in Boston, where I'll have those friends and family there with me."
