BUCKLE UP, FOLKS! ALL SIX ABBOTT WORLD MARATHON MAJORS ARE BEING RUN IN A SIX-WEEK SPAN
Usually, the six Abbott World Marathon Majors are spread out from the first weekend in March to the first weekend in November. But there is nothing usual about the 2021 season.
This year, every race will take place in a busy six-week window. This unique season began with the BMW BERLIN MARATHON on September 26, followed swiftly by the Virgin Money London Marathon on October 3.
A weekend like never before follows, with
the Bank of America Chicago Marathon taking place on Sunday, October 10, and, just 24 hours later, Boston Marathon Monday
The Tokyo Marathon will be staged the following Sunday, before the season is rounded off with the TCS New York City Marathon on November 7.
It's a schedule that presents unique opportunities for many runners on their Six Star Journey, with some aiming to complete multiple races in the short time span with the
ultimate goal of a Six Star Medal.
In Boston, there are 69 runners aiming to become new Six Star Finishers on October 11.
Among them is Texan Amy Pelzer, who began her mission to qualify for Boston back in 2016 at the TCS New York City Marathon. Her time of 3:57:37 left her short of the 3:45 BQ needed for her age group, but she began chipping away. Her next attempt was in Chicago in 2017, where her time still wasn’t on target, but she did
