Dear MayorTsuneo Suzuki:
From your Sister City of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, our City Council and International Relations Committee, and on behalf of all our residents: congratulations on your recent re-election as Mayor of Fujisawa.
| know that you attach great importance to Fujisawa’s foreign exchange work. Windsor has enjoyed a strong sister city relationship with Fujisawa since 1987. That year, our two communities pledged eternal friendship, with wishes of prosperity and mutual exchanges of education, culture, tourism, and other programs. This commitment was made to contribute to a better understanding between the people of Canada and Japan to achieve world peace and prosperity.
In 2017, we celebrated the 30" anniversary of our Sister City relationship. That was also our ninth year of welcoming exchange students from Fujisawa’s Misono School. It was an honor to have you and your delegation visit us to celebrate, and we were grateful to receive a Cherry Blossom tree — representing the unofficial national flower of Japan — as a wonderful gift of friendship. Most recently, in 2019, we proudly displayed artwork from Fujisawa youth in the main reception area of WindsorCity Hall — providing our residents with a glimpse into Fujisawaasillustrated by the vibrant works of art from your young citizens, With many Japanese residents and organizations in Windsor, we welcome every opportunity to share new, important cultural exchanges and experiences with you. Such visits and initiatives help us share our stories with one another.
1 know that under your continued leadership, we will strengthen the bond between Fujisawa and Windsor, Thank you for your partnership. It is my hope that Windsor will celebrate many more v" to no naganen no yujo.
