General Findings – 2017 and 2018 CAO/CLT

The CAO’s position in 2017 was at the 60 th percentile. In 2018, the CAO’s percentile ranking fell to the 50 th percentile. The difference between the 50 th and 60 th percentile ranking is $527. The City of London took over the 60 th percentile ranking spot after a 6.3% increase in salary in 2017.

The Corporate Leadership Team’s average median ranking has remained similar in 2017 and 2018 but both are above the median at 56.6% and 53% respectively. Currently the CLT is only .5% in real dollars away from the 50 th percentile. Dropping below the 50 th percentile in 2019 is possible if any participating organization gives extraordinary increases to its senior leaders. In 2017, Chatham-Kent and London both gave significant increase to their senior leaders of 7.2% and 6.3% respectively.

In 2018, 40% (2/5) of the CLT positions were below the 50 th percentile. One position was $8,399 below the median, the other $2,188 below the median in actual salary dollars.

In 2018, 40% (2/5) of the CLT’s salaries are above the 50 th percentile . In 2018, the positions above the median were on average 3% above the median or $9,741, $4733 and $148 above the median in actual salary dollars.

In 2018, 20% (1/5) of the CLT’s salaries are at the 50 th percentile.
