Background:
On February 26, 2019, the Ontario government proposed new legislation to guide the restructuring of the health care system and create a new agency called Ontario Health. In addition, smaller teams called Ontario Health Teams were to be implemented across the province. These teams are groups of health care providers and organizations that are clinically and fiscally accountable for delivering a full and coordinated continuum of care to a defined geographic population.
At their meeting of May 6, 2019 City Council received Report C78/2019 Ontario Health Teams - Municipal Involvement, Impact and Opportunities. The Recommendations in that report were approved through CR210/2019.
THAT the report from the Commissioner of Community Development and Health Services and the Administrator/Executive Director of Huron Lodge Long-Term Care Home BE RECEIVED for information; and further,
THAT City Council AUTHORIZE the Commissioner of Community Development and Health Services and the Administrator/Executive Director of Huron Lodge, or their designates, to bring the perspective of social services and long term care to
