Council asking questions, and not supporting the mayor’s motion will send a clear message to WRH; create a plan the PROVINCE will approve.

I understand all that has been done and the money that has been spent. These are more reasons to get this investment done correctly not reasons to rush into supporting an ill fated plan.

Our healthcare should not be political, but it is. We all know it is. This is why we need leaders that are willing to co-operate with any government. This is why we need a Council that will represent the interests of the people. This is why we need to include our residents in the PLAN. This is why we need WRH to create a PLAN the province will approve. We’ve waited long enough and deserve better.

While I disagree with the process used for rezoning 1000 acres of the Sandwich South property and strongly disagree with the lands purchased by WRH, I choose to look forward. The province has made it clear that the local steering committee has the final say about location of potential new investment. This is why the PLAN is so incredibly important.

Please, I ask that you do not support Item 15. You will not be voting down a hospital. You will be making WRH accountable.

I suggest the following:

That the City of Windsor supports construction of a new regional acute care hospital on the land purchased by Windsor Regional Hospital and asks the Government of Ontario to prioritize funding when AN APPROPRIATE PLAN HAS BEEN PRESENTED TO COUNCIL to move this project forward.

I appreciate your time. I thank you for your consideration and the time you have taken to learn & understand this plan, prior to casting your votes.

Positively,
