boasting of unanimous support and only now are you being asked to support the construction of what will be the city’s ONLY acute care hospital at this site on County Road42. It seems a very backwards, manipulative and deceitful way of going about business and certainly unfair to those who this council and administration serve.

In the midst of the events we are facing due to the climate crisis, doing what is right and most responsible should mean saying “NO” to supporting this current site. This very valuable investment needs to be reviewed through lenses that have been overlooked. We can’t continue to exploit our resources through unnecessary expansion and we need to seriously at this point in time look at investing in downsizing and efficiencies. Looking long term to generations who will bear the consequences of shortsighted planning decisions this is a much more sound planning strategy.

There are no shovels in the ground. Now is the time to say to the province “We want to do better and know we can do better. We need to review this plan and do what is right and what is responsible”. If this plan was the best we can do why has the province not allowed for progress. Why has taxpayer money been used on a massive social media campaign to recruit support? You need to stop kidding yourself and perhaps motion to acknowledge and deal with the divisive climate that has developed through all the conflict and controversy surrounding this project. It needs to come from you. It needs leaders to stand up and lead fearlessly and justly. This project has the potential to be a very progressive game changer for this city and Windsor could truly be a showcase if we can embrace the attitude and cooperation that’s needed.

Sincerely

Lori Hill
