Item 11.7

Additional Information

Subject: FW: Streetcar and Riverfront park

I agree fully with the letter and points being made by Mr. Mavrinac (see below), and ask that you NOT place the streetcar as proposed on the riverfront at the west end of the sculpture park. I am a proud, lifelong resident of Windsor, and current professor who teaches outdoor recreation among other courses in Kinesiology at the University of Windsor. I have brought numerous students down to the riverfront to acquaint them with this beautiful stretch of outdoor recreation space. I have watched the riverfront over the years as structures have been appropriately removed so that the vision by Roy

Battagello, Bert Weeks and others could be realized. We have other locations for the Streetcar, which I feel is a great historical site – it just doesn’t belong on the riverfront. I am personally in favour of putting

it by the AGW, which is in reach of the riverfront but complements rather than takes away from it.

Please vote to place the Streetcar in a different location rather than on the riverfront in the west end, which has already been violated in so many different ways, but is slowly receiving the benefits of decisions that enhance it as a community of value – such as the recent roundabout and Arch on Sandwich Street. I live in the West End and am proud of our stretch of the riverfront trail. The streetcar can successfully be located elsewhere and become the tourist site you desire.

Sincerely,

Dr. Victoria Paraschak
