be tearing down what's left of our single-family homes to make way for more unsightly parking lots to lure tourists?

It is well known that the west end has the worst air quality in the city (and possibly the worst in the country). Why have we cut down trees to make way for a site that will bring more traffic to an already heavily polluted corner of our world? Have we even begun to replace all those tall trees lost to the emerald ash borer? With all the industrial/automotive pollution we are exposed to daily, and with all that is known about climate change, we cannot afford to make such decisions in isolation.

I simply don't understand why this natural space has been chosen for this project. Surely, there are many other more commercial or less naturally tranquil areas that would benefit from an influx of tourists without the guaranteed congestion and negative impacts on residential and environmental health.

Why have the residents who make this area their home 24-7 not been consulted about these massive plans to irrevocably alter our neighbourhood?

Sincerely,

Beth Lyster
