Traffic Operations | ADDITIONAL COMMENTS | Fireworks flagged for Monday August 31− May conflict with sidewalk cafes or road closures within the downtown area |
Transit Windsor | Any concerns or requirements? | The main thing for transit is to maintain our existing bus stops and that the bus stops remain barrier free as they currently are. |
Transportation Planning | What are you concerns with adjacent vehicular operating speeds? (50km/h or less?) | Closures should not be allowed on streets with a speed limit over 50 km/h |
What types of barriers should be used and at what height? Windsor Police recommends 42" for safety | Any delineation element such as fences, planters, barriers, etc, must be a maximum of 1m in height ‐ agrees with standard 42" railing suggestion |
Confirm setbacks from an intersection? (visibility triangle 8m)? | Clearance from an intersection – The offset distance is measured from the closest curb edge of an intersection to the closure area. a. Clearance from a signalized intersection:i. If curb extensions (bump‐outs) are present in the parking lane, the closure area will be allowed up to the curb taper of the curb extension closest to the intersection.ii. Where curb extensions are not present, the closure area location will be evaluated on a case‐by‐case basis to determine an adequate offset from the intersection that would not affect sightlines and traffic operations.1. Up to 25m approaching the signalized intersection. 2. 9m beyond the signalized intersection b. Clearance from a un‐ signalized intersection: i. 15m approaching the intersection ii. 9m beyond the intersection |
HORIZONTAL CLEARANCE | We recommend reducing the required minimum pedestrian clear path to 2.1m for major roads where the boulevard space is limited. (2.5m would be ideal where accommodation is possible)purpose, if required |
