guidelines. Particular attention should be given to the transition from one stage to the next as identified in the Reopening of Businesses and Public Spaces framework as traffic will likely increase with each subsequent stage.

Riverside Drive Lane Closure

The Council Question refers to Riverside Drive between Devonshire Road and Caron Avenue (2.8 km). This section is shown in Figure 1. On this portion of Riverside Drive, two travel lanes are provided in each direction.

The Council Question asks how to implement a lane closure along this portion of Riverside Drive; in order to implement the lane closure quickly, temporary flexible channelizing barrels would need to be used (example in Figure 2).

These barrels are held in place by a weighted base. High winds or contact from vehicles can move barrels out of position or knocked barrels over. For this reason, regular patrols would be required to confirm that the barrels are positioned correctly and to move barrels back into place as needed.
