Windsor's Seniors Advisory Committee believes that all seniors should have a right to multiple opportunities for healthy aging and a full range of supports to assist them.
Mandate
Reporting through the Community Services and Parks Standing Committee, the Seniors Advisory Committee (SAC) brings issues that affect seniors to the attention of the Mayor and City Council.
In this capacity SAC:
- Acts as a liaison for seniors in the City of Windsor and advises City Council on ways to enrich the health and quality of life of all seniors in the community
- Solicits input and acts as a public forum for issues that affect local seniors
- Identifies barriers to access by seniors to city services and programs
- Forms partnerships in the community to educate, inform and improve the quality of life for seniors
- Addresses any other seniors issues from time to time
- Makes recommendations regarding strategies that could be used by Administration to address the needs of seniors

Overview of Accomplishments
- Selected SAC members were invited to a consultation through the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility. The Ministry was soliciting feedback from around the province to support a new government-wide Seniors Strategy - "Ontario is Consulting with Seniors and Caregivers on Aging Strong in their Communities"
- Supported and attended the UN International Day of Elder Persons and Canada Seniors Day flag raising at Charles Clark Square
- Promoted SAC in the Council on Aging calendar and Recreation Activity Guide
- Determined best practices to submit to the World Health Organization to maintain membership in the Global Network for Age Friendly Cities and Communities
