- · SUBJECT: RE: Report ti S 27/2016; CQ45/2015 - Feasibility of a Big Bin Project
- BACKGROUND
- At its meeting on April 18, 2016, Council resolved the following:
- CR257/2016
- That Report NO. 363 of the Environment, Transportation & Public Safety Standing Committee of its meeting held march 23, 2016 regarding "CQ45/2015 - Feasibility of a Big Bin Project" BE DEFERRED to a future meeting of Council to allow for all members of Council to be in attendance and that administration REPORT BACK as to which Ward would be most apprpriate to commence this pilot project.
-
- DISCUSSION ( It is difficult to suggest one Ward to commence the pilot project as residents in all Wards would have the same need to image dispose of bulk items. It is assumed that CR257/2016 suggests one event at one location. Based on that assumption, Administration would recommend the most economical location, that of the Environmental Services Yard; more specifically the Public Drop Off Facility. This location could host a Sunday only event at an estimated cost of $8,000 to I $10,000. Cost savings are achieved at this location since bin and hauling fees would be eliminated.
-
- CONCLUSlON Administration continues to caution the same risks that are outlined in the corresponding report. At the suggested driven by the tonnage o verted waste.
