In May of 2019, Municipal Council approved the Port Hope Strategic Plan identifying six priorities, and accompanying objectives and action plans. The following are priorities of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture. The complete Strategic Plan can be found at: porthope.ca/strategic-plan

A new space for older adult programming continues to remain a priority of the older adult community along with Staff. The completion of this project has been presented as a priority for Council's consideration and is included in the strategic planning.

Update: A grant application to the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program has been submitted.

Key aspects of this project include the creation of multi-purpose spaces, maximizing existing space, providing adequate parking, following accessibility guidelines, as well as planning for future program needs and growth.

Based on community feedback, a review and potential re-configuration of the concept plan must be completed to address the key concerns raised relating to enhanced parking and building layout.

Objective:

Continue to enhance the use of the Port Hope Community Hub.

In 2018, the Port Hope Community Hub (PHCH), formerly the Canton Municipal Building, opened its doors as home to the rural branch of the Port Hope Public Library. The facility is also home to dedicated programming space for activities and rentals, which are managed by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture.
