3. BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
As a follow up to the September 12th, 2019 meeting of the Board of Directors, Willistead Manor Inc., D. Sanborn asks each Board member to identify what their top three priorities are so that the Board can narrow their focus over the next few years. D. Sanborn explains that this exercise will allow the Board of Directors to advance towards the goals that they identified during the strategic planning session that took place on June 22nd, 2019, under the guidance of Janice Forsyth of Foresight Management Consulting.
The Board members agree that the primary focus of the Board should be creating a Historical Exhibit in the Coach House because this project has been discussed many times and the funds have already been allocated.
C. Masterson suggests that the Board consider hiring a part-time Curator who could help with the design and layout and would bring a professional perspective to the project.
Moved by R. Gauthier, seconded by D. Langstone, THAT the Board of Directors, Willistead Manor Inc. DIRECT Administration to put together a Request for Proposals (RFP) or Request for Quotations (RFQ) to hire a curator to design an interpretive plan, developing exhibition themes and potential layout of space in the Visitor Centre of the Coach House to be brought to a future meeting of the Board for review; and,
THAT the Board AUTHORIZE an expenditure to an upset limit of $5000.00 for this phase of the project; and
THAT the expense BE FUNDED through Project No. 7075065 Willistead Restoration Improvements.
Carried.
The Board members agree on the need to attract new Board members, with new ideas and perspectives as well as the need for members with an expertise in technology. Other suggestions include more access to the Manor, more tours, partnerships and the need to restructure the current sub-committees in order to become more effective as a Board.
4. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT
D. Sanborn informs the Board members that the Executive Committee has received an application from an individual interested in joining the Board of Directors, Willistead Manor Inc. A discussion ensues concerning the applicant's leadership and technical skills and how these skills could benefit the Board. The members unanimously agree that the applicant would be a valuable addition to the Board of Directors, Willistead Manor Inc.
