Discussion:
Report S 211/2016 recommended that, should Council choose to pursue a Riverside Drive road diet, a traffic capacity analysis should first be carried out to determine whether the traffic that would divert to other routes could be accommodated on the road network without causing unsatisfactory operations or other issues.
The general scope of this study would be as follows:
Item | Study Scope |
---|---|
Study area | Routes:
Limits: Crawford Avenue to Walker Road |
Locations to be analyzed | All signalized intersections in the study area |
Road network scenarios to be analyzed |
|
Work plan items |
|
Items that would not be in the scope of the traffic study:
- Data collection. Traffic count data would be collected by the Corporation's turning movement count contractor as part of the semi-annual turning movement count program, as per normal practice,
- Public or stakeholder consultation. A traffic study of this type does not normally require public or stakeholder consultation,
- Preparing an addendum to the Riverside Drive Vista Improvement Environmental Study Report,
- Preliminary or detailed design of a Riverside Drive road diet or mitigation measures.
