Age Groupers hit their targets on road to 2024
Boston's famously fast field produced plenty of qualifiers for next year's Age Group World Championships.

The 2023 Boston Marathon saw 684 runners become Six Star Finishers, a record total for the race.
With a world record of more than 3,000 in Tokyo, and the TCS London Marathon taking place just six days after Boston adding over 300 more, the spring Abbott World Marathon Majors races combined to take the grand Six Star Finisher total past 12,000.
But there were more than stars at stake for runners aged 40 and over who ran the famous 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boylston Street.
This year's event also served as a qualifying race for the 2023 AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Rankings.

The rankings comprise more than 375 marathons spanning the globe. Each race offers runners aged 40+ the chance to earn a position in the Age Group World Rankings which, in turn, can win them a place at the 2024 Age Group World Championships.
This year, rather than waiting until the end of the season in December to learn your qualifying fate, any athlete hitting the Automatic Qualifying Time immediately punches their ticket to the world championship.
At this year's Boston Marathon, that was the case for 452 runners. Any of them already registered at AbbottWMM.com will have received their invitation confirmation. If you see yourself on this list and you did not get an invite, sign up at AbbottWMM.com and you will receive your email.
It's not over for any athlete who just missed out on an automatic qualifying time for 2024. Runners sitting high in the rankings by the end of the season will also be in contention for a spot at the 2024 race, and the fall Global Marathon held in the Global Run Club will also offer 200 runners another route to qualification.
