Olympic Champions Share Expertise
On Saturday, April 15, Olympic Champions traded tips as Puerto Rican tennis star and 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist Monica Puig met fellow Olympic Champion Eliud Kipchoge.
Like Kipchoge, Puig ran her first 46,000 pounds of clothing discarded in Hopkinton was collected and donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Boston Marathon on Patriots' Day, finishing in 3:49:47. Six days later she completed the TCS London Marathon in 3:42:04 to earn her third Abbott World Marathon Majors star.
Before going to meet fans at the finish line, Kipchoge took time to chat with Puig about the importance of patience on the hills and was sure with her tennis fitness and professional sports experience she would tackle the marathon in a positive way. Puig gave him a signed racket which he was going to practice with, and Kipchoge gave her a signed copy of his inspirational book to provide further motivation for the challenge her and her husband were taking on — running Boston and London in less than a week's time.
