EXCEPTIONAL TALENT: Joe and Jenna are sharing and improving their skills while helping to publicize the information and resources provided by EP Magazine.

"I am always interested in working with clients who will provide robust learning experiences for my students," said Professor Keith Green. "The client-agency relationship is even more enriching when there is a purpose-driven mission behind the organizations we work with, and EP Magazine definitely meets those criteria. Finally, having students who are personally invested in a client's mission is not always easy, but I have two wonderful students in Jenna and Joe who are dedicated to strategically promoting the tools and resources that the magazine offers, and they are doing a great job"

JENNA'S STORY

I am extremely excited to be working with Exceptional Parent Magazine through Hawk Communications alongside Joe. I am a Communication and Media major, with a minor in English. After graduation, I hope to follow my dreams and pursue a career in public relations, marketing, entertainment and/or writing. I hope to one day get my Masters in Creative Writing or Communications. This is my first time taking this course and I absolutely love it thus far.

I was recommended to take Hawk Communications by a professor, and via word-of-mouth. I quickly learned how immersive and special this course really is. I knew immediately that I wanted to work with Exceptional Parent Magazine, since I have years of experience with children and have first-hand experience being part of the life of someone with a disability.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have found comfort in creating. As I grew older, my love for creating transformed into one of my best

attributes. Being able to work for this magazine doing digital and traditional marketing, writing, social media and advocating is a dream come true and a huge learning experience. I am incredibly thankful to have this opportunity thanks to Professor Keith Green and Faye Simon, Editor In Chief of EP Magazine. I am also very thankful to be able to work with my passionate and creative collaborator, Joe. When I was nine years old, my father suffered from a major stroke. He was left paralyzed on the left side of his body and fought hard to re-learn things due to his traumatic brain injury. Things like speaking without slurring words or being able to wiggle his toes took months to regain – things many people tend to take for granted. I soon realized that the world is not made for those with disabilities, which only made me determined to be an advocate for the disabled community. I instantly felt a deep connection with Exceptional Parent Magazine because of my passion for advocating for individuals with disabilities of all ages, and my love for working with children, as I had been a daycare teacher for three years and a babysitter for nearly six years.

“I INSTANTLY FELT A DEEP CONNECTION WITH EP MAGAZINE BECAUSE OF MY PASSION FOR ADVOCATING FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES OF ALL AGES.”

Throughout this semester, I have created many graphics and written creative copy for EP Magazine on Facebook, Instagram and
