OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS

April 2023

Dear Friends:

On behalf of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Lieutenant Governor Kimberley Driscoll and I would like to welcome you to the 127th Boston Marathon.

Massachusetts is proud to be home to the longest-running and one of the most prestigious marathons in the world. Every year, the Boston Marathon brings thousands of people from across the globe to join us in celebrating this incredible display of athleticism, determination, and pride. The Boston Marathon is traditionally held on Patriots' Day, which memorializes the start of the Revolutionary War and our fight for freedom.

This year's 2023 Boston Marathon marks the 10th remembrance of the Boston Marathon Bombing. Our hearts are with those who lost loved ones and those who still bear the wounds of the attack, both external and internal. We remain deeply grateful to the brave first responders and citizens who valiantly aided those who were injured and went above and beyond to secure justice. We would like to also commend the efforts of the Boston Athletic Association in facilitating a smooth and safe event for all participants and spectators.

Lieutenant Governor Kimberley Driscoll and I want to congratulate the runners for this awe-inspiring achievement and thank the participants and spectators who chose to come to Boston for this momentous event. We wish all the participants good luck, and we look forward to a safe, exciting, and lively race. Please accept our best wishes to all in attendance today.

Sincerely,

MAURA T. HEALEY GOVERNOR

KIMBERLEY DRISCOLL LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
