In a gripping duel that rivaled anything in the long history of the Boston Marathon — better yet, any marathon, ever — Peres Jepchirchir of Kenya and Ababel Yeshaneh of Ethiopia paid breathtaking tribute to the 50th anniversary of women's official welcome to these streets.

Peres Jepchirchir and Evans Chebet completed a Kenyan sweep atop the podium.
