ABBOTT WORLD MARATHON MAJORS

Celebrating the Six Star Journey

BOSTON'S THE NEXT STOP FOR MORE THAN 100 WOMEN AIMING FOR A SIX STAR MEDAL

In a year that Boston marks the 50th anniversary of its first official women's division, the race will also see the number of female Six Star Finishers continue to rise.

Runners completing all six Abbott World Marathon Majors become owners of one of the most sought-after medals in all of endurance sport, the Six Star Medal.

The Six Star Finisher family was picking up its rate of growth before the COVID-19 pandemic, and that growth began to

click back into gear in 2021 as five of the six AbbottWMM races came back to the roads.

Of the total 7,147 Six Star Finishers on record, just over 2,000 of them are women. This year, we have more than 100 women aiming to join that special club when they cross the finish line of the 126th Boston Marathon.

They will be in some illustrious female company. In 2019, American half marathon record holder Sara Hall earned her own

Six Star Medal when she completed the BMW Berlin-Marathon.

Then there is the magnificent Edna Kiplagat, who completed all six AbbottWMM races when she finished Berlin in 2018. The legendary Kenyan is a three-time AbbottWMM series champion and also has Olympic and World Championship marathons on her CV. She won in Boston in 2017 and has added two more second-place finishes since— including last year.
