Record Setters

Bennett Beach of Maryland will aim to finish his 55th consecutive Boston Marathon. The Harvard alum ran 5:47:27 in October, and holds the longest active streak of Boston Marathon completions. 

 

On the women's side, Patty Hung of California is one finish shy of tying Andrea Hatch's all-time record for women's consecutive finishes at 36. Patty completed her 35th Boston in 5:34:25 last year. 

 

Reaching the 50th consecutive Boston mark is Boston Marathon Race Director Dave McGillivray! Dave traditionally runs the course in the late afternoon and early evening of race day.

A Marathon for All Ages

At 83 years and seven months, Joseph Burgasser of St. Petersburg, Florida, will be the oldest athlete competing. Burgasser completed the 2019 race in 4:30:42 to place fourth in his age group. Fellow Floridian Robert Holliday will also be 83 years old on race day.

Four athletes from Massachusetts will be celebrating their 18th birthday in style by racing 26.2 miles! Tucker Winstanley (Concord), Ryan Mullen (Millis), Alexander Tobias (Andover), and Colin Hingston (Quincy) all turn 18 within a week of race day, and will each run their first Boston Marathons!

1,637 athletes qualified at the 125th Boston Marathon in October for this year's race
