Like the tradition of the Boston Marathon taking place on Patriots' Day, the CITGO sign holds an important place in race history. The sign in Kenmore Square has been a landmark on Boston's skyline since 1965. It graces left field at Fenway Park and has seen thousands of athletes to the Boston Marathon finish line.

Two iconic Boston traditions—the Boston Marathon and Samuel Adams—share a unique and historic Patriots' Day connection. Jim Koch, founder and brewer of Samuel Adams, released his first batch of the signature Samuel Adams Boston Lager on Patriots' Day of 1985 at establishments near the race route. More than three decades later, Samuel Adams is a proud partner of the Boston Marathon and annually produces a specialty beer for marathoners!

When I lived and trained in Boston, I just became totally enamored with the Boston Marathon. Every Patriots' Day I would go to Heartbreak Hill to watch the runners, and whenever I trained on the course I dreamed of getting to run the race someday. There's something uniquely special about the Boston Marathon, and I absolutely can't wait to line up in Hopkinton this April for the race!" - Molly Seidel

Olympic marathon bronze medalist Molly Seidel is a former Boston resident. She'll go from marathon spectator to competitor on Patriots' Day this year.
