Everywhere you look, Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) is either likened to torture, or at the very least, confronting an awful history. And yet it has a stronghold on parents and schools as the only universally-funded behavioral strategy for autism supported by state governments and insurance providers.
"Life coaches" are springing up all around, but with no guarantee of a sustaining market— and have those coaches actually "walked the walk" in their own lives?
Peer Mentoring is a tiny fraction of the available options – yet has no detractors. But of course I'd say that! Because it's what I do!
And that's a good point to end this intro on because everyone has a financial stake in what gets called "effective," and "proven," whether they really are or not.
