- BOSTON: VIRTUAL EDITIONS
- 2020 VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Boston Marathon was postponed from its traditional April date to September last year, and ultimately converted into a virtual experience. Participants celebrated the Boston Marathon across the country and around the world, covering 26.2 miles virtually in their hometowns, cheered on by friends, family, and neighbors. A total of 16,183 finishers from all 50 U.S. states and nearly 90 countries completed the Boston Marathon Virtual Experience, earning the coveted unicorn finisher medal.
"Building upon the success of the 2020 Boston Marathon Virtual Experience, we again will strive to bring the spirit of Boston to neighborhoods around the world through this year’s virtual race. No matter where you cross the finish line, the 125th Boston Marathon will be a celebration for all runners."
