On behalf of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito and I would like to welcome you to the 125th Boston Marathon hosted by the Boston Athletic Association.

This year's Boston Marathon will be the largest race in history, with 20,000 athletes competing in person from Hopkinton to Boston while an additional 30,000 athletes will complete the race virtually in neighborhoods around the globe. Whether running in Boston or virtually, the spirit of the marathon and Massachusetts shines on and will be brought to communities throughout the world in 2021.

Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito and I would like to express our appreciation to every single participant and volunteer who has worked so hard to continue this meaningful tradition. Whether running to achieve a personal best, raise funds for charity, or simply reach the fifinish line, Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito and I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on participating in the Boston Marathon.
