WHEN WILL THE MOON RISE?
Use the following saying to remember the time of moonrise on a day when a Moon phase occurs. Keep in mind that the phase itself may happen earlier or later that day, depending on location.
The new Moon always rises near sunrise;
The first quarter, near noon;
The full Moon always rises near sunset;
The last quarter, near midnight.
Moonrise occurs about 50 minutes later each day.

*The Harvest Moon is always the full Moon closest to the autumnal equinox. If the Harvest Moon occurs in October, the September full Moon is usually called the Corn Moon.
