6. 2 minutes. A train going 30 mph travels ½ mile in 1 minute. It takes 1 minute for the train to enter and begin to emerge from the tunnel and then another minute for the caboose to finally be out of it.

7. By planting in the shape of a star. Draw a pentagon (five-sided figure) and "plant" one tree at each point. To each side of the pentagon, add a triangle with a tree at its tip. You now have five "rows" that intersect to form a five-point star.
