NOVEMBER

SKY WATCH: Except for Mercury in the predawn east, all of the planets fade a bit. Venus sinks lower each morning but is still conspicuous before dawn. Look for the thin crescent Moon between Mercury and Venus on the 13th and below them on the 14th. Venus hovering above Mercury is an easy observation from the 8th to the 18th, 40 minutes before sunrise, for those with an unobstructed eastern horizon. When evening dusk fades, Jupiter continues its steady march toward Saturn, with the pair now visible only in the first few hours of each night. The Moon floats near the two planets on the 18th and 19th.

After 2:00 a.m. on November 1, Eastern Standard Time is given.
