In June, Orange County-native Arli Bianco completed the two-year Beauty Marketing & Product Development program. Currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Beauty Business Management major, this enterprising student founded a new student club, Future Leaders in Beauty, which meets bi-monthly on Tuesdays at 2:45 p.m. on Zoom. The full meeting schedule is published at Student Activities on Canvas.
Q: Tell readers about the new club that you started.
Future Leaders in Beauty educates its members about current beauty trends, industry news and products, and provides networking and career-building opportunities. I started the club for three reasons: to give Beauty majors more representation, to give those in different majors the opportunity to learn more about beauty and the beauty industry, and to give students a great way to connect with each other.
Ever since classes moved online, it has been hard for many people to make those connections that would have otherwise been made on campus. FLB is inclusive, encouraging its members to voice their opinions and work collaboratively.
FLB expects to host industry guest speakers. We also want to incorporate a philanthropic effort that gives back to the community, like working with a women’s shelter or organization that transitions women back into the workplace. We are recruiting more members, so if you or anyone you know is interested, please join one of our upcoming meetings.
A: I’m not 100 percent certain yet. I’m hoping that after graduation I will be working for a color cosmetics brand as their Public Relations Marketing Manager. Eventually, I would love to start my own makeup line that would be sold in Sephora—that’s the goal.
