Betty Kennedy bkennedy77@yahoo.com 1050 18th Street Obviously, this issue is very personal for me as I live within blocks of the Ambassador Bridge. The idea that the trucks I see from my front porch could soon be carrying hazardous waste is, frankly, terrifying. I urge Governor Whitmer to see the request from DIBC for what it is, just another attempt to line their pockets without regard for the safety of the community. This is nothing new. My neighborhood is literally surrounded by the bridge company, as they have bought up land and hoarded vacant properties for decades, spreading increasingly and inextricably, like a virus. My neighbors and I have to fight the company to maintain open streets and access to our own homes. This is simply not a corporation to be trusted. I have zero faith that DIBC would create safe passage for these deadly materials. When residents of Hubbard Richard already endure terrible air quality and exposure to harmful pollutants, asking us to accept further risk to our environment- our lives, our children, our homes... it is just too much to bear. Please protect our neighborhood, Governor Whitmer. You know the bridge company won't.
