WHY H AS THE OFFICIAL PLAN BEEN UPDATED?

Ontario’s Planning Act requires municipalities to conductan Official Plan Review every five years. The Town'scurrent Official Plan was approved in November 2010, which consolidated and replaced the Official Plans of the former municipalities. The Official Plan review ensures that the Official Plan is consistent with the latest Provincial policies, the County of Essex Official Plan (2014), and supports new communityobjectives andpriorities in managing growth and change.

APPROVALOF THE OFFICIAL PLAN: Upon adoption of the Official Plan by Town Council, the Planwill be forwarded to the County of Essex for approval. As such, this proposed Official Plan is not subject to appealuntil approved by the County.

APPEALS AND NOTICE OF DECISION: If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Town of Lakeshore before the proposedOfficial Plan is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the County of Essex (the approval authority) to the Local Planning Appeals Tribunal

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissionsto Townbefore the proposedOfficial Plan is adopted, the person or public body may not be addedasa party to the hearing of an appeal before the LPATunless,in the opinion of the LPAT, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.
