Good morning,
This past spring AMO and OFIFC reached out to see if there was any interest in signing a Deceleration of Mutual Commitment and Friendship between the municipal government and the local Friendship Centre. To date 12 of the 29 municipal governments with Friendship Centres have signed local declarations. As well, the signing between the Presidents of the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres and AMO on the Declaration of Mutual Commitment and Friendship at the 2020 AMO Conference in August demonstrated a broader joint commitment towards furthering organizational collaboration to support Indigenous people across Ontario’s municipalities (as described further on AMO’s website ).
I wanted to send a final call out to see if your municipality and local Friendship Centre are in the process of working to sign a local Declaration of Mutual Commitment and Friendship in the near future. AMO is looking to recognize local declarations received after the AMO conference during the ROMA 2021 Conference in January. Due to the virtual nature of the conference, we would need to know by November 15th if we can include your municipality and Friendship Centre. As well, it would be nice to have photos of your Mayor signing by December 15th.
Should you have any questions, please contact me.
Thanks very much and take care,
