Dear Office of the City Clerk,
I am writing to you regarding the following proposed motion for the next city council meeting: That the City of Windsor supports construction of a new regional acute care hospital on the land purchased by Windsor Regional Hospital and asks the Government of Ontario to prioritize funding to move this project forward.
We have noticed throughout this pandemic that residents need a new, modern hospital. COVID-19 has reminded us of the importance of hygiene. At our current Met Campus, only 29% of the rooms are allocated for single-patient use. This brings greater risk to outbreaks and makes infection control difficult to manage. I believe we need a new hospital to ensure we are prepared for future crises.
Met campus hospital is old and continuously needs updates and new technologies. With the new proposed hospital this can be achieved and it’s location would be central to the entire county. Plus, should any patient need to be airlifted to Toronto or London, the airport is right there.
I support the proposed motion on the November 9 council agenda.
Thank you,
Jennifer Stowe
