- SUBJECT: Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry Windsor Campus - 2020 Awards of Excellence Dinner
The City has been approached by the Associate Dean of the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry - Windsor Campus to consider sponsoring a table at their 2020 Celebration of Excellence Dinner . The dinner celebrates the graduating Medicine Class of 2020 and the Awards of Excellence recipients who are mentors and role models, distinguished by their leadership and embodiment of Schulich values. One of the awards to be presented is the City of Windsor Award for Academic Leadership. Established in the 2013-2014 school year, the Award recognizes a resident committed to the community and intending to remain in Windsor upon graduation. The Awards of Excellence Dinner will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Caesars Windsor .
A contribution of $1000 includes 10 tickets to the Celebration of Excellence Dinner, corporate recognition at the table, placement of the City's logo on the event website and all relevant signage and digital displays that evening, and assists to offset the costs to attend for the graduating students.
Since 2013 (88/2013) City Council has allocated funding to Community Development and Health Services to assist in attracting students to the Family Medicine Program at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry - Windsor Campus, and encouraging graduates and physicians to establish their practice in the City of Windsor. In 2019, City Council further extended support to also assist in attracting students to the Psychiatry Program, with a goal of retaining those professionals in the community . (CR430/2019) The sponsorship can be accounted for within the Physician Recruitment and Retention funding approved by City Council. This request is being submitted to City Council for their consideration and direction .
