CULTURE

ON THE BIG SCREEN

Port Hope is the quintessential small town with pretty streets, beautiful architecture and the kind of warmth and charm that keeps you coming back. We've become a destination for filmmakers looking for historical flflavour and ambiance. Which truly makes us the perfect foil for dark intrigue and horror in the movies! Would you really expect to find an evil shape-shifting clown hanging out by Dreamers Cafe by the river or the stately Town Hall?

SOME OF THE MOST INSTAGRAMMED IT MOVIE SPOTS IN TOWN

1 THE QUALITY MEATS DOOR is in the laneway off Walton Street. You can still find the Quality Meats sign (a gift from the film crew) for a souvenir selfie. Spooky!

2 QUEEN STREET & MEMORIAL PARK were prime film sets. The Capitol Theatre listed Batman and Lethal Weapon 2 on the marquee. Memorial Park was a hangout for the Losers Club and a 20-foot statue of Paul Bunyan.

3 TOWN HALL is a building with character and elegance! It appeared as the popular Derry public library where sinister forces lurked in the basement.

The Capitol Theatre on Queen Street made appearances in IT.
