"Attending a play at the Capitol Theatre is an adventure in itself," says Artistic Director Susan Ferley. "You walk into our beautiful auditorium and find yourself in a medieval courtyard at twilight with stars twinkling overhead. It's magical. In a community that is committed to architectural conservation, the Capitol is a jewel."

It's true, the 90-year-old Port Hope treasure is a designated national historic site. It was built as one of the first movie theatres by Famous Players, and opened on Friday, Aug. 15, 1930 screening the debut of Queen High with Ginger Rogers.

Now beautifully restored, thanks to a dedicated group of residents in the 1990s, the Cameco Capitol Arts Centre is an incredible venue for musical theatre, plays, concerts and films, including favourites from TIFF and a Vintage Film Festival. It's also a showcase for local and emerging talent with an intimate 100-seat theatre upstairs, The Sculthorpe, for performances and events.

The highly anticipated 2020 Theatre Season of Amazing Adventures will transport you to other places, like the era of the baby boomers in BOOM, Ferley says, "or a farmhouse in Canada, a seashore in Greece or the
