VALENTINE'S TEA WITH RODEO NEWS WRITER LILY WEINACHT

VALENTINE'S TEA;
VALENTINE'S TEA;
VALENTINE'S TEA;

It's my form of liquid courage, and it's been called a congenial beverage otherwise known as tea. Many of the stories I've written for the magazine are done with a mug of tea at hand, and several times a year, particularly at Valentine's Day, I pull out my grandmother's glassware and my china teacups,and I host a tea for my friends. We were eight in all this year. We're a varied group college students, graphic designers, seamstresses, and more buttea and friendship brings us together for the afternoon. I always serve a mix of sweets and savories, and try at least one new recipe each year to go along with the favorites. This year's experiment was chai tea biscotti spicy, crunchy, and oh so delicious. They paired well with the coconut macaroons, chocolate muffins, scones, and savories of mini quiches and curried chicken salad sandwiches.It's all topped off by a cuppa tea, or five or six. There would be mutiny if I didn't serve Seattle market spice and peach tea, while the third flavor rotates between a chai, peppermint, or some other form of black tea.

Whether you take it with cream or sugar, tea is always a good idea. So keep calm and put the kettle on!
