RJA Fire Protection Receives Approval RJA Fire Protection Technology Consulting, a Jensen Hughes' subsidiary, located in Shanghai, China, is in the first select group to receive approval under the new government regulations for certification of fire protection consultants. Criteria for approval included individual and company credentials, site surveys, documentation review and experience with both international best practices and local knowledge that was evaluated by an expert panel led by officials from the Shanghai Fire Department.
This certification is Level 1 (highest) and will allow the company to provide its services throughout all of China.
The services provided will include code analysis, performance-based design and fire modeling, special design analysis and evaluation, fire risk assessment and fire hazard rectification. Visit jensenhughes.com.
Fire Tech Systems, Inc. Wins NAWIC Award AFSA contractor member Fire Tech Systems, Inc. recently won the National Association for Women in Construction's
(NAWIC) Regional Safety Award at their Spring Forum held in Biloxi, Mississippi. Fire Tech's Lisa Dumas and Safety Director Tracy Hadwin accepted the award. Fire Tech Systems will automatically be entered into the national competition, which will be announced at the NAWIC National Convention to be held September 3-5 in Nashville, Tennessee. Reminder: OSHA's New Confined Spaces for Construction Standard With an effective date of August 3, 2015, a good faith effort to comply with the new standard training is required. Employers must train their employees consistent with 29 CFR 1926.1207 or 1926.21(b)(6)(i) or have scheduled training in order to comply with new requirements. All employees required to enter into confined or enclosed spaces shall be instructed as to the nature of the hazards involved, the necessary precautions to be taken, and in the use of protective and emergency equipment required.
